I'm Dr Kiran Chadha

Hailing from Dalhousie, Dr. Kiran Chadha is a woman of substance who has donned many hats throughout her professional career. She is a former bureaucrat, artist, dance expert, trekker, social worker and an anchor in many fields. She is recognized as the first person from Dalhousie to qualify for the Civil Services. She has served in various capacities in the Government of India in the Ministries of Petroleum, Commerce, Defence and Labour. She retired as Joint Secretary in the Government of India in 2010. She has attended programs abroad in Petroleum Management in Boston, USA. and Management Development in London, UK.

Biography

Dr. Kiran Chadha has two well qualified children pursuing their professional careers. She has a positive persona and unshakeble faith in the Almighty which helped her to recover from the trauma of the sudden demise of her husband in January 2015.She has gone as a leader of the ManSarovar yatra in 1996.Within india she has travelled both for official and religious purposes.
She has been conferred with the prestigious “Shreshta Putri Award” by the Governor  of Himachal Pradesh in the year 2000.
She has been interviewed on TV as “Woman Achiever” and has been on TV panels many times for discussion on current topics and issues relating to women. She is motivational speaker in many school, institution and foundations. Dr Chadha addressed Principals and Directors of ICSC schools in northern India on Challenges of Education in 2014. Her treatise on Second World War: Economic Impact on India was featured in Studies in History in 2002.
Her interests include reading, music, knitting, painting and trekking. Currently, she is engaged in many social and welfare activities and has started the NGO, “Swachh Dalhousie, Clean Dalhousie.”
It deals with environment and for welfare of society. Featured in Asia Pacific Who’s Who, Volume Second (1999) and in the International Directory of Distinguished Leadership U.S.A(1999), we get glimpses of her massive accomplishments. 
Her recent accomplishment includes the writing and launch of the Coffee Table Book ‘Dalhousie …through my eyes ’ in 2017 in which she has traced the history of the town along with the history of her own family from 1859 onwards. This is the first Coffee table book on Dalhousie.The entire book is replete with historical information and lavish images of the town. 
Presently, Dr Chadha is at the editing stage of her forthcoming second book titled Indian weddings : unplugged now. This covers ceremonies, traditions and rituals of weddings in all regions of India including the tribal belt. The significance of each ritual and ingredients used is elaborated other than historical details of marriages.
 

Dalhousie …through my eyes is a meticulously crafted effort which will serve as a guide and a knowledge storehouse for the next generations to learn more about Dalhousie and its history and see the beautiful images of it and inspire them to travel to the hill town for an unforgettable experience.
